To kick of 2018 I am adding a brand new section to my blog. This year I want to focus on getting fit, eating healthy and aiming for that summer body. I think pretty much everyone is on the same wavelength at the moment, it’s the time of the year where the gyms are packed and everyone is burning of all that christmas food and drink off!
So for this new page in particular I will be using it as a journal, showing you what I’m eating, the good days and bad. Every time I go the gym I will be documenting what I do and how I get on – yeah, I think you can probably get the vibe. To help me with my 2018 fitness goal I’ve kindly been asked to work with one of my local gyms ( Gym & Tonic) – I’ll be working with a personal trainer in the gym & tonic gym over the next couple of months and I am really looking forward to it.
Before I get cracking on with my Gym & Tonic journal, I need to tell what the gym has to offer and all about their new SYNRGY Zone.
Gym and Tonic has a mix of everything which caters for everyones needs and goals. One of my favourite aspects of this gym is the women’s section, their ladies section is completely shut off from everywhere else, which is perfect if just want some peace and quite or even for people who are less confident working out in a public gym. Inside the gym you’ll find Cardio, Free Weights & Resistance, functional and now SYNRGY Area! They even have a brilliant Sauna to cool off after smashing your gym workout!
When choosing your package, they start from just £16.99 per month, each package has completely different elements to it! I will be able to give you a promo code very soon to go with your membership for an even better deal.
The SYNRGY Zone opened on Friday and I’ve already had the pleasure of working out in there and its so good! Fancy your own little sneak peak? Click here to view a short film of this new zone.
Gym & Tonic Journal
Monday 15th January
So today was the first day at the gym and trying out their new zone. I worked alongside one of their personal trainers, who I must say was excellent – he really pushed me to achieve todays goal. It definetely shows I don’t do much when I go the gym casually its such an eye opener. Id recommend everyone to try and have a session with a personal trainer at Gym & Tonic, it gives me such motivation.
My first session was hard going but needed – since my knee injury last year my gym workouts have gone down so bad, but now I am so excited to start working with a personal trainer for a few months. I am delighted to be able to share my fitness journey and my Gym & Tonic experience with all of you, my readers.
What I achieved on Day One:
- Treadmill – 10 minute warm up
- Stair Master – 5 minutes
- Rower – 1000 Meters
- Kettle-bell Swing – 8kg 3 x 15 reps (I have weak arms, haha)
- Battle Ropes – 3 x 15-30 seconds
- Squat + Press 3 x 15 reps
- Ab Crunch – 3 x 15 reps
- Leg Raises – 3 x 12 reps
- Plank 3 x 30 seconds
I am meeting with my personal trainer every monday so I will be updating this every monday and when I go the gym in between. I will be taking photos on my next visit too – but for now, what are you waiting for?
Ok, not going to lie this week hasn’t been the best, as I caught that nasty flu going around and I have worked pretty much everyday so I haven’t managed to go the gym since my last PT session. However, I feel very refreshed to go and smash my next gym session and I will be going the gym serval times this week.
